Canceling a Policy That Has Not Started
If your Mexico auto insurance policy starts on a date after the day you want to cancel, it means your policy has not gone into effect yet. Refunds Policy
Refunds will be credited to the card used to purchase your policy. You should see the refund within 1–3 business days, though this may vary depending on your card company. A cancellation fee equal to half the agency fee will apply to all cancellations.
Mexico Tourist Auto, RV, Motorcycle, Boat, and ATV Refunds
Refunds for Mexico auto, RV, motorcycle, boat, and ATV policies are calculated based on the cancellation window, not the length of the policy. Since six-month and annual policies come with a significant discount, canceling early removes that discount.
Policies Not Yet in Effect
If your policy has not started yet, you will receive a full refund minus a cancellation fee equal to half the agency fee.
Policies Already in Effect
- Daily policies (shorter than six months) are not eligible for refunds once they are in effect.
- Six-month policies can be refunded within the first 20 days after the start of coverage (the cancellation window).
- Annual policies can be refunded within the first 30 days after the start of coverage (the cancellation window).
After the cancellation window has passed, refunds are no longer available for in-effect policies.
