Why You Need Mexico Tourist Auto Insurance
If you are planning to drive in Mexico, it's important to understand that Mexican law requires all foreign plated vehicles have Mexico auto liability insurance. A U.S. or Canadian policy will not be accepted by Mexican authorities. This means that if your vehicle is involved in an accident while driving on a Mexican roadway, you may be held liable for damages and medical expenses of any injured parties. You could even face criminal charges!
Mexpro's insurers offer affordable rates with 24/7 customer support so our customers can relax knowing they are protected while driving down south! Get your quote now!
Liability Car Insurance in Mexico
Driving without liability insurance in Mexico can be costly and dangerous. Liability can be as much as $300,000 to $500,000 U.S. dollars, depending on the Mexican state. Police or a judge may ask you to prove that you can pay for an accident you have caused or for harm you may have done, or they can detain you until you offer proof you can pay. You could be detained at the scene, your vehicle could get impounded, or you could even go to jail.
Liability only policies offer the most basic auto insurance coverage, and are the minimum required by law when driving in Mexico. Mexpro's liability policies cover damages to other persons and property resulting from an accident you cause. And, it covers the driver and passengers in your vehicle. Your vehicle is not insured with this policy. All Mexpro's policies include our trademark MexVisit® travel assistance, which includes roadside and legal assistance.
